A Detailed Look At The New Fruehauf Blower Trailer

At Fruehauf, we’re proud to continue our legacy of excellence with the launch of our latest innovation—the all-new Fruehauf Blower Trailer. Designed to meet the demands of the specialized animal feed transport market, this trailer combines cutting-edge technology with practical features to deliver unmatched performance and reliability.

In a recent video, David Lewington, our Special Projects Manager, sat down with Neale Jones, Fruehauf’s Blower Expert, to take viewers on a detailed tour of this groundbreaking product. With over 40 years of experience in the blower industry, Neale brings a wealth of knowledge and firsthand expertise to the design and functionality of this trailer.

Why Fruehauf Entered the Blower Market

“Fruehauf has built some of the best tipper trailers in the industry for years,” Neale explains. “Entering the blower market was a natural progression for us. Our goal is to build a trailer that’s not just reliable but also tailored to the unique needs of our customers.”

The Fruehauf Blower Trailer is designed primarily for animal feed mills, though it’s also suitable for private owners and haulage companies. Its specialized design ensures it meets the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and versatility.

Key Features of the Fruehauf Blower Trailer

Hydraulic Drive System
The trailer is powered by the tractor unit’s PTO (Power Take-Off), eliminating the need for a traditional donkey engine. This hydraulic system reduces weight by approximately one ton, allowing for greater payload capacity—up to 28 tons. It also lowers maintenance costs and improves fuel efficiency. “Hydraulic drive is the future,” Neale says. “It’s lighter, more economical, and easier to maintain.”

Customizable Compartments
The trailer features three internal partitions with five locks, enabling users to create compartments of varying sizes. This flexibility is ideal for transporting different types of animal feed, such as pig feed, chicken feed, and cattle feed, without risk of cross-contamination. Brush seals ensure each compartment remains secure and leak-free.

Multiple Tipping Controls
Safety and convenience are at the heart of the design. The trailer can be tipped from the front, rear, or side, ensuring drivers can operate safely on uneven terrain. “You don’t want the driver standing next to the trailer while tipping,” Neale notes. “This system gives them full control and keeps them safe.”

Enhanced Safety Features
The trailer is equipped with pneumatic safety cut-offs that deactivate the hydraulics when the rear doors or grate are opened. This prevents accidents and ensures safe operation. Additionally, the lack of electric components reduces the risk of malfunctions in harsh environments.

User-Friendly Design
From the ergonomic access ladder for easy cleaning to the built-in toolboxes and work lights, every detail has been designed with the driver in mind. The trailer also features a hydraulic sheet cover and remote controls for added convenience.

Durable Construction
Built in collaboration with Aluminium Body Systems (Alib), the trailer’s body is crafted to the highest standards. “Alib builds some of the best bodies in the industry,” Neale says. “They’re durable, customizable, and built to last.”

Neale’s decades of experience as an operator and owner have been instrumental in shaping the design of the Fruehauf Blower Trailer. “We’ve built this trailer as if we were the ones using it every day,” he explains. “It’s about making the driver’s job easier, safer, and more efficient.”

The trailer has already been put to the test by a poultry feed manufacturer, who praised its performance and reliability. “They were thrilled with it,” Neale shares. “It’s been sanitized, certified, and is ready for its next trial with another customer.”
