Fruehauf is proud to highlight its investment in young people through the success of our own Julia Fiander, who joined the company after first meeting the team at the South Kesteven District Council Skills Summit in Grantham as highlighted in their recent coverage.
Julia was studying for a Level 3 BTEC in Creative Media Practice at Grantham College when she attended the event earlier this year. Initially there to create content for her course, she left with an opportunity that would shape her career.
She explains: “I attended the event run by SKDC with the intention of creating some interesting content for the college. To have met with such a long-standing and historic company based right here in Grantham was beyond all expectations, so to
then be contacted after the event about a career opportunity, and now actually be working there, has been a dream come true. This would never have happened without the Skills Summit.”
Fruehauf Sales Operations Manager, David Lewington, was equally impressed: “I was just blown away by Julia’s confidence and clarity. She was super professional. I didn’t have a position I was looking to fill but decided to try and create a role for her. She attended her interview and I was instructed to hire her immediately. Julia is a real find, a real asset.”
Julia has since become an important part of Fruehauf’s media and marketing team, creating content for press, the company’s website and social media channels.
The connection was made possible through the Skills Summit, which provides opportunities for employers to meet talented young people and explore future workforce development. As part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent, Fruehauf also welcomed representatives from South Kesteven District Council and event partner Careers Hub to its Grantham site to discuss wider opportunities for apprenticeships, work experience and community engagement.
